Bundled Telecom Offers in Switzerland: A Practical Guide

July 13, 2023 - Ralf Beyeler

Some Swiss telecom companies offer bundled packages that combine different telecom services. Find out whether these bundled telecom offers make financial sense in this moneyland.ch guide.

Some Swiss telecom service providers use bundled offers to attract new customers – a practice that is also common in other sectors. These telecom companies aim to offer as many different services as possible in order to tighten their bonds with customers and boost their profits.

But are bundled telecom offers also beneficial for customers? In this guide, moneyland.ch analyzes bundles which, at the least, include both home Internet and a mobile plan.

Which bundled telecom offers are available in Switzerland?

The four biggest Swiss telecom companies, Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt, and Quickline, all offer their own bundled telecom plans. Of the smaller Swiss telecom service providers, only a few offer bundled home Internet and mobile plans.

In many cases, the multiple-plan discounts applicable to bundled offers do not apply if you get your plan at a special promotion price.

These bundled telecom offers are available in Switzerland:

1. Blue Benefit from Swisscom

If you get both your mobile plan and your home Internet plan from Swisscom, your mobile plan fee is reduced by 20 francs per month. But there is an important limitation: The discount only applies to some Swisscom plans. Customers with the cheapest Swisscom plans do not benefit from the discount.

The biggest Swiss telecom company also offers family discounts in combination with its bundled telecom offer. Up to four additional mobile plans for other people in your household can be integrated into the bundle. Every additional plan that meets the requirements benefits from a 30-franc discount on the monthly subscription fee.

2. Sunrise

If you get both your mobile plan and home Internet plan from Sunrise, the monthly fees of both plans are discounted by 10 francs each. You also benefit from additional perks: Firstly, Sunrise raises the data transfer speed of your mobile plan; Secondly, you receive a Wi-Fi range extender (the 5-franc monthly fee is waived); Thirdly you receive a free upgrade to the XL TV plan that includes your choice of either a Netflix subscription, a MySports subscription, or the Premium Plus premium TV offer.

The family discounts offered by Sunrise can also be combined with the bundled telecom offer. The monthly fees of each additional mobile plan added to the bundle are reduced by 50 percent.

3. Salt

The third-largest Swiss telecom service provider Salt gives customers a 10-percent discount on the monthly fee for the home Internet and TV plan. Like Swisscom, Salt too only offers this discount for select plans. The discount does not apply to cheaper Salt mobile plans, not to prepaid mobile offers.

4. Quickline Family

Quickline offers a bundled family plan for 99 francs per month. The plan includes a relatively slow home Internet connection, a basic TV plan, and as many mobile plans as you need (plans do not have unlimited calls or data for a flat fee). You can expand the usefulness of this offer by adding supplemental products with additional fees.

5. Teleboy

If you get both a paid TV plan and a mobile plan from Teleboy, both plans benefit from a discount. The monthly fee for the TV plan is reduced to 9.90 francs instead of 19.90 francs, and the monthly fee for the mobile plan is reduced by 10 francs.

Are bundled telecom offers worth it?

Consumers often ask that question. Many people expect service providers to get better prices if they use multiple products from the same service provider. But in many cases, bundled telecom offers are relatively expensive.

You can often end up paying much less by getting your home Internet plan and mobile plan separately from different telecom companies. One reason for this is that many low-cost service providers like Wingo and Yallo do not offer any bundled plans.

The examples below, calculated by moneyland.ch, help you understand the differences in pricing. The price comparisons are based on standard prices and do not account for special promotional offers.

  • Swisscom charges around 150 francs per month for a bundled telecom package with a 1 Gbps home Internet connection, a TV plan with 7-day TV time shifting with forced advertising breaks, and a mobile plan with unlimited local calls and data. But if you were to get affordable home Internet, TV, and mobile plans separately from three different telecom service providers, you would only pay around 80 francs per month in total.
  • Sunrise charges a total of 118 francs per month – accounting for multiple-plan discounts – for a mobile plan with unlimited local calls and data, a 1 Gbps home Internet plan, and a TV plan. If you got similar plans from three different cheap telecom service providers, you would only pay around 80 francs per month in total. Even if you also account for the optional Netflix subscription, Sunrise is still more expensive, with a total cost of 118 francs compared to 95 francs if you use alternative providers and get your own Netflix subscription.
  • Salt charges 100 francs per month for Salt Home and a mobile plan with unlimited local calls and data. Depending on your individual needs and requirements, it is possible to get a 1 Gbps home Internet connection and a mobile plan with unlimited calls and data in Switzerland from other service providers for around 70 francs per month.
  • Quickline charges 99 francs per month for its bundled telecom offer. But the bundled mobile plan only includes 3 gigabytes of mobile data and no phone calls. If you also get a Quickline mobile plan with unlimited local calls and data, the total cost would be 129 francs per month. But if you get three separate plans from the three cheapest service providers, the total cost would be around 70 francs per month.
  • Teleboy charges around 80 francs for a gigabit home Internet plan, a TV plan, and a mobile plan. That is approximately the same price you would pay if you were to get each plan individually from the cheapest available service providers.
