Can you recommend an alternative to savings accounts in Switzerland? I want something that pays decent interest.

Hi there,

Interest offered by Swiss banks is generally low. This is particularly true for current accounts and business accounts. Even Swiss medium term notes deliver very low yields.

Interest on savings is also poor. However, a handful of Swiss banks do offer fair interest rates so running a savings account comparison before opting for alternatives is recommended.

3a retirement accounts have slightly more attractive interest rates, and the tax benefits are also attractive. Retirement funds can offer an alternative, but comparing all fees and charges before joining a fund is a must because there are major differences in pricing between retirement funds.

You can also invest in shares, ETFs and other securities. This is best done using an affordable online broker.

The rule of thumb for all forms of investment is that the higher the returns you want to earn, the more risk you have to take on (as with shares and funds) and the more flexibility you have to give up (as with retirement solutions).

Best regards from Moneyguru
