Our family has a general obesity problem and we have decided to get treatment. Can you tell me whether or not obesity treatments are covered by mandatory Swiss health insurance?

Hi there,

Compulsory Swiss health insurance covers the cost of gastric banding operations when your body mass index (BMI) exceeds 35. You must also undergo 2 years of non-surgical obesity treatment before undergoing the operation in order for the surgery to be covered by compulsory health insurance.

Best regards from Moneyguru
