Is there a difference between a gift card and a voucher? Do both of these expire or do vouchers expire but not gift cards?

Hi there,

The term "gift card" is usually used to denote a coupon which can be traded against all goods or services from a specific merchant or group of merchants. Gift cards typically come in multiple denominations. Some gift cards store value electronically on a magnetic stripe or microchip. Gift cards typically have long validity periods.

The term "voucher" typically refers to a coupon which can be redeemed for specific goods or services from a merchant or group of merchants. Vouchers often come with conditions attached and normally have fairly short validity periods.

Best regards from Moneyguru
