Good evening!

I contact you from Romania. I found a job in Basel and have to come soon for a face2face casting. Unfortunally I am able just for a part time job because I have cancer and leucemy. I proceeded many theraphies in Romania and different surgery. With the right treatament specialist I could leave normally for the next years. Question: If I get this job, can I find an insurance that will cover me the treat I need? Thank you!

Hi creatzadydy,

Yes. Every resident has the right to get basic health insurance from the time they obtain residence in Switzerland. If you live in Switzerland, Swiss health insurance companies have to accept you as a customer.

Basic Swiss health insurance covers treatment in Switzerland. You can find useful information on what is covered by basic compulsory health insurance in this guide.

Important: Coverage for medicines is limited to those listed on the official List of Pharmaceutical Specialties maintained by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. Some medicines, such as experimental or very expensive medicines, are not listed and are not covered.

Read our guide to medicines and health insurance for more information.
