According to press articles, Smava offers incredibly affordable loans and even loans with negative interest in some cases. Are residents of Switzerland also eligible for Smava loans?

Hi there,

According to Smava, only residents of Germany who hold an account at a German bank are eligible for loans.

In this way, Smava is similar to Swiss lenders - which only give loans to people who live in Switzerland.

One reason why most lenders do not lend money across borders is that they do not necessarily have access to foreign credit bureaus (SCHUFA in Germany, ZEK in Switzerland). Non-residents also pose a higher risk of default.

Best regards from Moneyguru
