Hi there,

I am working towards opening my own company and I read that in Switzerland you can withdraw your pension fund savings when you become self-employed. I would like to use my pension fund savings to help me meet the financial requirements of founding a Swiss Aktiengesellschaft (AG). Can I do that?

Hi there,

You are allowed to withdraw pension fund savings when you become self-employed (on certain conditions) because you are only obligated to contribute to a pension fund as an employee.

However, when you found an "Aktiengesellschaft" (AG/SA) or a "Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung" (GmbH/Sarl), you become an employee of that company. As such, you do not qualify as self-employed and are not eligible to withdraw your pension fund assets.
