Montréal Exchange (MX)

The Bourse de Montréal or Montréal Exchange (MX) is the oldest stock exchange in Canada, with roots dating back to the 1830s. The exchange shifted from a floor-based exchange to a fully electronic exchange in 2001. The Montréal Exchange is operated by the TMX Group.

Derivatives – both currency-based, interest-rate-based, equity-based and index-based - make up the bulk of the products traded on the exchange.

Indexes based on the Montréal Exchange include the S&P/TSX 60 VIX Index (VIXC), the MX Covered Straddle Writers' Index (MPCX) and the MX Covered Call Writers' Index (MCWX).
