Cash Market

In trading, the term cash market refers to the portion of securities trading in a certain market which is performed and settled immediately.

In this way a cash market differs from a futures market in which trades are performed or settled at a future date.

A cash market is also referred to as the “spot market”, and encompasses exchange-based trading and over the counter trading.
