Vertcoin

Vertcoin (VTC) is a cryptocurrency which uses a proof of work system which is designed to prevent large-scale mining. Production is limited to a maximum of 84 million Vertcoins. The Vertcoin blockchain uses stealth addresses to hide user identities from the general public.

Vertcoin was one of the first altcoins to use an ASIC-resistant structure. This structure aims to prevent specialized computers using application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) from performing transactions at faster rates than other computers. ASIC-resistant mining helps to prevent the centralization of transaction processing and monopolization by any one party. Its resistance to power-hungry ASIC mining operations also makes Vertcoin less energy-intensive than bitcoin.
