Egyptian Exchange (EGX)

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has roots dating back to the Alexandria Stock Exchange established in 1883 and the Cairo Stock Exchange established in 1903.

The EGX facilitates investment in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs) and structured products. More than 200 companies are listed on the EGX and around 150 financial services providers are exchange members. Trading is carried out electronically using the X-stream system. The EGX also operates an exchange for over-the-counter investment products.

The EGX30 index tracks the performance of 30 key stocks listed on the exchange, and is the benchmark EGX index. Other indexes which track the exchange include the S&P/EGX ES, and the EGX20, EGX50, EGX70, EGX100 and NILE.
