My adult son has a rage problem. Recently he was badly injured when shattering a glass panel with his fist. We received the bills from the hospital but are unsure about whether we should send these to his accident insurance or health insurance. Would this be counted as an accident?

Hi there,

This is something of a legal grey area. However, in June 2017 a Swiss court ruled that self-inflicted injuries do not qualify as accidents and therefore accident insurance providers are not necessarily required to cover these kinds of injuries. In the worst case, your son will be left to cover the full cost of his medical bills out of his own pocket.

Best regards from Moneyguru
