I own my own apartment in an apartment complex and have, so far, paid around 2000 francs per year towards the building renovation fund.

Since losing my job, I have found it difficult to keep up with these payments. Am I legally obligated to make these payments or are they voluntary?

The statutes of condominiums are generally notarized and are legally binding. If your condominium’s statutes stipulate contributions towards the building renovation fund, you are legally required to make those contributions.

If you fail to make one or more contributions, your housing collective has the right to report you to the debt collection register after delivering a warning.
