I recently applied for life insurance and the insurance company has asked me if i would be willing to take a DNA test. I imagine if I do not comply, they will not insure me. Is this allowed? To my understanding, insurance should cover risk, otherwise who needs it?

Hi there,

In Switzerland, insurance companies have the right to ask you whether or not you have ever taken a DNA test when you take out life insurance policies worth CHF 400,000 or more. They can also ask for this information when you take out supplemental disability insurance with an annual benefit of CHF 40,000 or more. If you have taken a DNA test in the past, they may ask you to provide them with the results.

Best regards from Moneyguru
