From what I understand, I cannot lose my job during my legal maternity leave. I am planning on taking some months of unpaid maternity leave on top of the legal entitlement. Do I still benefit from job protection during unpaid maternity leave?

Swiss law forbids employers from laying off women during standard, paid maternity leave. However, this protection does not extend to unpaid maternity leave.
