In the past when my children got sick I took days off from work to take care of them without pay or wrote them off my paid vacation entitlement. Now that I am more familiar with the Swiss system, I am beginning to wonder if I could have claimed paid leave for those days.
Can I claim paid leave to care for my children when they are sick?

You are legally eligible to claim up to 3 consecutive days of paid leave to look after your sick child (aged 15 years old or less).
In the case of a long-term or repeated illness, you are obligated to find a long-term solution for the care of your child (a caretaker, for example).
