I was just informed by my landlords that my rent is going up by around 100 francs per month! Is there any way I can dispute that rent increase?

Thanks for your help with this

Hi there,

In Switzerland, landlords are allowed to incerase rents when the consumer price index increases, when the imputed interest rate used for mortgage affordability calculations increases, when major renovations or reconstructions have been made or when maintenance costs increase significantly.

You have the right to dispute increases in rent within 30 days of being informed about the increase. Disputes must be communicated to the municipal concilation authority, which review the disputed rent increase and takes action when the increase is not justified.

Best regards from Moneyguru
