Can my landlord handle liability claims for damages to my apartment directly with the insurance company without my having to be involved? I would prefer to avoid the extra hassles.

Hi there,

Your personal liability insurance agreement is a contract between you and your insurer. Your landlord is not a party to the policy.

However, you can provide your landlord with a power of attorney which allows them to deal with the insurance company directly without your involvement.
