I will be staying in Switzerland for a year and I am working on my budget. In my country I live on the equivalent of 500 Swiss francs per month, but I hear that Switzerland is expensive. Can a single person live ok on 1000 Swiss francs per month in Switzerland?

Hi there,

While some costs (food, housing, transportation) are very subjective in that you may be able to share a room, hitch free rides or eat simple food, two expenses which are guaranteed are the premiums you pay for compulsory health insurance and compulsory accident insurance.

You can use the unbiased moneyland.ch compulsory health insurance comparison tool to find out exactly what premiums you can expect to pay.

Best regards from Moneyguru
