Changing your compulsory health insurance policy is normally only possible at the end of the year.
You can only terminate your current insurance policy by the end of November - otherwise it will automatically be extended for another year. Make sure to post your notice of termination well ahead of the end of November as the termination is only processed at the time when your insurer receives the notice.
Many Swiss insurance providers will manage the termination of your former policy for you when you sign up for their compulsory insurance policy - as long as you sign up well ahead of the November deadline.
