I am looking for the absolutely cheapest credit card. Are there any free credit cards in Switzerland?

Hi there,

There are a number of Swiss credit cards which are marketed as free credit cards.

What that means is that the cards in question do not have annual card fees. However, all credit cards have some fees and charges attached.

Credit cards with no annual fee still charge a foreign transaction fee when you use them to pay in a foreign currency. They also charge fees for cash advances. Issuers of these "free" credit cards often charge above average rates for incidental fees (fees based on services used, such as paper statements or use of the call center). The services and rewards which come with "free" credit cards are often minimal.

Verdict: What you pay for a credit card depends on how you use it. Depending on your user profile, different cards may be the cheapest for your needs. Take time to compare credit cards based on your needs before settling.
