I took maternity leave after my boy was born last year. When filling out my tax return I was not sure whether to declare the income I got from maternity leave insurance. Should I have declared it?

Hi there,

The money which you receive from maternity leave insurance replaces your regular salary. You normally receive this money through your employer and it will normally be included in the salary statement which your employer provides you with to include in your tax return. As long as this income is included in your salary statement, you do not have to declare this income separately from your salary.
