After receiving a job offer elsewhere I decided to quit our housing contract early and find a new tenant to take over. The notice period on my contract is 6 months, which is way too long for me to wait with the move. The problem is that the new tenant I found now decide that they only want to take over the contract in 5 months time. Do I have to keep renting the place until then?

Hi there,

Yes, you are legally obligated to pay rent until the date on which the new tenant's rental agreement begins or the date on which your notice period ends.

Best regards from Moneyguru
