Hi there,

I live in Germany and am looking for a Swiss online broker to trade with. My question is: Are non-residents required to pay Swiss stamp duties on trades carried out in Switzerland?

Hi there,

To answer your question: Yes, Swiss stamp duties - or stamp taxes - are levied regardless of where the owner of securities resides.

The federal stamp duty is levied every time a security is bought or sold. You can expect to pay a duty equal to 0.075% of the value of Swiss securities and a tax equal to 0.15% of the value of securities transacted on foreign stock exchanges.

Best regards from Moneyguru
