I have a timeshare plan which lets me spend a week at a resort in Thailand every year. I pay about 800 francs per year for the timeshare plus around 200 francs in service fees. If I got sick or had an accident and couldn't use my annual allowance, would my travel insurance cover the loss?

Hi there,

The costs associated with owning timeshares such as maintenance fees and assessment fees are not normally covered by travel insurance because they are technically ownership costs and not bookings. If you are unable to make use of a timeshare entitlement, you will not normally be able to claim a benefit from your trip cancellation or trip interruption insurance - even if the cancellation is caused by a covered hazard.

Best regards from Moneyguru
