I want to move my 3a retirement savings from my current bank to another bank which pays more interest. When I told my bank representative about this, they told me I will have to pay a fee to transfer my assets. This fee is equivalent to around one year's interest. Is this legit?

Hi there,

Most Swiss banks do not charge a fee for the closure of a 3a savings account. However, some banks do charge an account termination fee when you close your account before reaching legal withdrawal age (5 years before retirement). As long as this fee is included in the terms and conditions governing your contract, the bank has the right to charge it.

The product information pages in the moneyland.ch 3a retirement account comparison clearly state the advance withdrawal fees when these apply.

Best regards from Moneyguru
