Hi there,

In order to act as a guarantor for a third party's rental home, both you and the landlord must sign a guarantor contract which specifies exactly how much you are liable to pay in your capacity as guarantor.

Rental home guarantor agreements for a rental amount greater than CHF 2000 must be authenticated by a notary.

Best regards from Moneyguru
