Hi there,

There are special rules governing the inheritance of assets held in Swiss vested benefits accounts. If a vested benefits account holder dies, the assets held in their vested benefits accounts can be claimed by legal heirs in the following priority:

1. Spouse or registered partner of the deceased. Dependent children of the deceased.

2. Individuals who are financially dependent on the deceased. Individual who lived with the deceased in a partnership for at least 5 consecutive years leading up to the death. Individuals who share dependent children with the deceased and care for these dependent children.

3. Non-dependent children of the deceased. Parents of the deceased. Siblings of the deceased.

4. Other legal heirs, as per Swiss inheritance rules.

Best regards from Moneyguru
