Are there any intercity buses in Switzerland? I am looking for a cheap alternative to traveling by train.
Hi there,
Swiss law currently prohibits intercity buses from competing with the Swiss railway system. This means that bus lines are not - as yet - allowed to transport passengers between Swiss cities. However, bus lines do stop at mutliple Swiss cities en route to international destinations, which presents a legal grey area. Laws limiting bus travel have been the topic of ongoing discussion and review.
You can find useful tips and cheap alternatives in the moneyland.ch guide to travel inside of Switzerland.
