If I want to claim a travel insurance benefit that I get with my credit card, do I file a claim at my credit card issuer or directly at the insurance company which underwrites the benefit?

The procedure varies slightly between issuers, but typically you are required to send your claim directly to the insurance provider and not to the card issuer.
You can find claim forms on your issuer's website or ask your card issuer to mail them to you. These forms normally include the postal and email addresses to which you must send the claim.
