What are the advantages and disadvantages of mixed life insurance? Who is it for? Does getting this type of life insurance make sense for parents with children?

Hi there,

In Switzerland the terms "mixed life insurance" and "savings insurance" are used in reference to various types of permanent life insurance. This kind of life insurance combines tax-privileged savings (3a or 3b) with life insurance coverage.

Getting permanent life insurance is only a good idea if you are sure that you can pay your premiums without fail throughout the entire insurance term. Terminating your policy ahead of schedule can result in significant losses.

Comparing the returns and coverage which you receive from permanent life insurance with the interest you can earn from 3a or 3b savings accounts and the premiums you pay for non-bundled life insurance is important. You will usually get a better deal by using separate solutions.

You can find more information in our guide to life insurance in Switzerland.

Best regards from Moneyguru
