We bought a lovely old chalet for a steal and paid in cash. Now we want to get financing to completely renovate it. Would you recommend a mortgage or a building loan or personal loan to finance the renovation?

Qualifying for a mortgage in Switzerland can be difficult because you must meet fairly stringent affordability requirements. However, if you can get a mortgage, this is normally the best option because interest rates on mortgages are much lower than those charged for building loans or personal loans.
