One insurance claim or two?

My expensive bag was stolen with my phone inside. Should I file just one household insurance claim for my bag, or would it be better to file separate claims for the phone and bag?

Deductibles and maximum sums insured apply on a per-claim basis, so you will save money by filing separate claims. Just bear in mind that filing too many claims in too short a time-frame could lead your insurer to consider terminating your policy if they feel that your risk-level has gone up substantially.
