Is it possible to pay my health insurance premiums on credit in Switzerland - as in paying premiums in installments? Is it more expensive to pay that way?

Thanks

Greetings,

It is generally possible to pay your health insurance premiums in installments.

Exception: If you have open debt collection cases or other indicators of poor creditworthiness, Swiss health insurance providers will not usually give you the option of installment payments.

Note that some insurance companies charge additional fees for installment payments (5 to 25 francs per payment, depending on the insurer). These extra fees can add up to a serious extra expense.

Make sure to ask your insurer if they charge a fee and how much they charge before you decide to pay in installments. If your insurance provider charges a fee, you will be better off avoiding installment payments altogether.

Best regards from Moneyguru
