I am unemployed but I would like to make payments into my vested benefits accounts and 3a accounts out of my normal savings to lower my wealth tax and keep my retirement savings on track. Is this possible?

Hi there,

Once your 2a pension savings have been transferred to a vested benefits account from your occupational pension fund after you leave your employer, you cannot continue to make contributions.

Your existing savings sit in a vested benefits account where they (ideally) earn interest until you either become employed again, reach retirement age or fulfill the criteria for an early withdrawal. You can compare interest rates using the moneyland.ch vested benefits account comparison.

You can continue contributing to a 3a retirement savings account as long as you receive unemployment benefits from a Swiss unemployment office.

Best regards from Moneyguru
