After a month of sick leave for an operation I noticed that my boss deducted my pension contribution from the 80% salary I received as paid leave. Is that normal?

Pension fund contributions normally must be made whether you are working or on paid sick leave. Many pension funds waive your obligation to make contributions when you are unable to work for long periods of time due to illness.
