Do I have to register bearer shares after purchasing them? Is there a certain limit to the amount of bearer shares which I can buy without registering them? What is the difference between a bearer share which is registered and a registered share?

Hi there,

In Switzerland, brokers and custodian banks must now record the names of bearer share owners. It is no longer possible to buy and transact bearer shares anonymously as it was in the past.

However, you are not obligated to register ownership of bearer shares in company share registers, as is the case with registered shares. Records of bearer share ownership are used for tax and regulatory purposes rather than for shareholder participation purposes.

Best regards from Moneyguru
