We contracted a number of real estate agents to sell our home on a commissions basis. We paid out the commission to the agent which made the sale, but have since been billed by two of the other agencies we had contracted. Do we need to pay these bills?

That depends on what was stipulated in your contracts with those agencies.

According to Swiss law, you are not required to pay a commission to real estate agents which do not play a direct role in connecting you to the buyer.

However, the contracts used by many Swiss real estate agents include clauses defining fees and charges which are due regardless of sales. If your contract allows an agency to charge you money even when no sale is made, the contract takes precedence over general laws.
