Hello,
Is there an age limit to apply for supplementary health insurance?
Yes, Swiss health insurance companies normally do have age limits for voluntary health insurance.
For example, Visana only accepts new customers for voluntary hospital and outpatient insurance up to age 69. CSS only give outpatient insurance to new customers up to age 80, but does not have an age limit for hospital insurance. Sanitas gives outpatient insurance and most hospital insurance plans to new customers up to age 78, but has a lower age limit of 64 for the Hospital Standard Liberty plan.
So as you can see, there are big differences between insurance companies.
Many health insurance companies have premium calculators on their websites that normally automatically show you which offers are available for your age group.
