Is getting insurance for a death grant or funeral grant a thing in Switzerland? Has anyone here gotten this insurance?

Greetings,

Funeral insurance and similar death benefits are - in simple terms - just life insurance with a low sum insured. When the insured person dies, their beneficiary receives a small benefit (normally no more than several thousand francs). This amount can be used to cover costs related to the funeral or administrative tasks.

However, consumer watchdogs advise against getting funeral insurance because on average, policyholders pay more in premiums than their beneficiaries receive in benefits.

Funeral insurance is less popular in Switzerland than it is in neighboring Germany. If you feel the need to get life insurance, then consider getting a regular life insurance policy. You can find the best coverage for your needs using the moneyland.ch life insurance comparison.
