When I went for my first pregnancy checkup today the reception lady told me that the bill would be charged directly to the insurance company and I don't have to make up the deductible. Is this always the case with pregnancy checkups?

Hi there,

In Switzerland, pregnant women are not required to cover part of their medical expenses as a deductible or coinsurance payments, as long as the expenses in question are covered by compulsory health insurance.

This applies to all covered medical expenses incurred during pregnancy, including medical care which is not related to pregnancy at all.

Best regards from Moneyguru
