Hi people. My Swiss health insurance does not want to cover the cost of my medical treatment in the United States. Can they refuse to pay? Has anyone else experienced this? Shouldn't health insruance that I pay for cover my medical care anywhere, or am I missing something?

Basic (compulsory) Swiss health insurance only covers treatments within Switzerland, with the exception of medical emergencies, which are also covered outside of Switzerland within certain limits. A few exceptions apply, and you can read all about this topic here:
