Hi all,

We have a 3-year-old son who loves using our flat as a acrobatics circus. We love giving him his space, but once in a while his antics result in something expensive breaking.

Is there a Swiss personal liability insurance which would pay for the stuff he breaks?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Greetings,

The age of your child plays a crucial role in determining whether they (and you) are responsible for damages they inflict. From a legal perspective, parents are not generally liable for damages caused by very young children as long as they have fulfilled their due dilligence obligations.

However, many Swiss insurance providers cover claims against damages inflicted by children living in covered households. Review the terms and conditions of policies carefully before applying to find out whether damages caused by children are covered.

It is worth noting that insurance providers will not normally accept claims for damages to your own property by your own children. Only damages to third-party property will be covered.

Best regards from Moneyguru
