Earning points when you pay is one way to cut the cost of using a credit card or even to make a profit. It is important to compare the points earned with the costs of using a card to get a clear idea of how rewarding a card is.

Here, we list Swiss rewards credit cards along with the earning rate and value of points, and the fees attached to using each card:

Migros Cumulus Mastercard. This card lets you earn 1 Cumulus point per 1 Swiss franc of Migros purchases charged and 1 point for every 3 francs of other purchases charged. Cumulus points can be redeemed for Migros vouchers at the rate of 1 point redeemed to 1 centime of value or for goods and services at merchants in the Migros Group. This card has no annual fee.

Coop Supercardplus Mastercard. This Coop credit card, also available as a Coop Supercardplus Visa, lets you earn 1 Superpoint per 1 Swiss franc of Coop purchases. You also earn 1 point per 3 francs for other purchases. Superpoints can be redeemed for merchandise and services from merchants in the Coop group. They can also be redeemed for vouchers from various partners at a typical value of 1 point redeemed per 1 centime of value. This card has no annual fee.

Bonus Card LibertyCard. This Visa credit card, which is also available as a prepaid card, lets you earn 1 Liberty point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases charged. Points can be redeemed for vouchers from numerous partners at the typical rate of 2.5 redeemed points to 1 centime value, for cash back (5 redeemed points to 1 centime value) or for Miles & More frequent flyer miles (6.5 points for 1 mile). Additional benefits like trip interruption and cancellation insurance, luggage insurance, travel legal expense insurance and search and rescue insurance make this a good option for travelers.

Bonus Card LibertyCard Plus. This Visa credit card issued by Bonus Card lets you earn 1 Liberty point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases charged. Points can be redeemed for vouchers from numerous partners (typical rate is 2.5 redeemed points to 1 centime value), for cash back (5 redeemed points to 1 centime value) or for Miles & More frequent flyer miles (6.5 points for 1 mile). What sets this card apart from the Bonus Card LibertyCard are the additional complimentary benefits you get which include a concierge service, a rental car collision damage waiver, travel medical expenses insurance and many more. You pay an annual fee of 150 francs.

Bonus Card Visa Classic. This rewards card lets you earn 1 Bonus point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases from Bonus Card partners. You get a lower rate of 1 point per 5 francs charged for all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for vouchers from partners at a typical rate of 2.5 redeemed points to 1 centime value. They can also be redeemed for cash back (5 redeemed points to 1 centime value) or for Miles & More miles (6.5 points for 1 mile).

UBS Mastercard Standard. This Basic UBS credit card lets you earn 3 KeyClub points per 1000 Swiss francs of purchases charged. Points can be redeemed for merchandise and services through the KeyClub rewards program at the rate of 1 redeemed point to 100 centimes value. Travel accident insurance comes as a complimentary benefit.

UBS World Mastercard Gold. Also available as a UBS Visa Card Gold, this credit card from UBS lets you earn 6 KeyClub points for every 1000 Swiss francs of purchases charged. You can redeem points for merchandise and services through the KeyClub rewards program at the rate of 1 redeemed point to 100 centimes value. Additional benefits like complimentary basic Priority Pass airport lounge club membership (lower entrance fee), travel accident insurance a rental car collision damage waiver add to the overall usefulness of this card. 

UBS Mastercard Platinum. This exclusive rewards credit card, which is also available as a UBS Visa Platinum Card, lets you earn 9 KeyClub points per 1000 Swiss francs of purchases charged. Points can be redeemed for merchandise and services through the KeyClub rewards program at the rate of 1 redeemed point to 100 centimes value. This platinum card provides many complimentary benefits including a concierge service and Priority Pass membership (including 4 free airport lounge entries annually).

Viseca Visa Classic. This is the basic rewards credit card issued by cantonal banks, Raiffeisen banks, Migros Bank, Bank Coop and many regional Swiss banks. It is also issued as a Viseca MasterCard Silver with identical rewards and fees. With the basic cards issued directly by Viseca you earn 1 Surprize point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases charged. You earn 2 points per 1 franc of purchases at most Swiss supermarkets and BP gas stations. Points can be redeemed for vouchers from partner merchants and travel service providers at the typical rate of 4.3 redemeed points to 1 centime. 

American Express Card. This charge card lets you earn 1 Membership Rewards point per 2 Swiss francs of purchases charged. Membership Rewards points can be redeemed for merchandise, travel, donations, frequent flyer miles and vouchers (typically 2 redeemed points to 1 centime value). 

Bonus Card Visa Exclusive. This high-end credit card lets you earn 1 Bonus point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases at partner merchants and a lower 1 point per 5 francs for all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for vouchers from partners at a typical rate of 2.5 redeemed points to 1 centime value. The main value of this card is found in the additional benefits you get – including a concierge service and travel insurance.

American Express Gold Card. This charge card let you earn Membership Rewards points at the rate of 1 point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases. You can redeem Membership rewards in many different ways (vouchers, miles, travel, merchandise), typically at a rate of 2 redeemed points to 1 centime value. Benefits include travel medical expenses insurance, travel accident insurance and purchase protection. This card has a 300 Swiss franc annual fee.

American Express Platinum Card. This charge card lets you earn 1 point per 1 Swiss franc of purchases charged. Membership Rewards can be redeemed in different ways. Redemption rates vary, but typically the rate is 2 redeemed points per 1 centime of value. It is best suited to those looking for exclusive services (concierge service, airport lounge access) and extensive travel insurance coverage.
