Hi there,

Timeshares are not hugely popular in Switzerland and availability of timeshare properties is low - as are options for swapping timeshare entitlements.

Timeshares also have a bad reputation in Switzerland due to many Swiss tourists being lured into unfavorable timeshare deals or even scams while vacationing outside of Switzerland.

While timeshares can present good value in some cases, it is a good idea to work with a reputable timeshare agency (Interval International and RCI are among the largest) and to Carefully consider all costs.

In addition to the price you pay to purchase the timeshare, you will normally also pay service charges, amenity charges and possibly maintenance costs.

You should also review the contract to ensure that your timeshare entitlements are guaranteed. Getting a qualified lawyer to review your contract with you before you sign is worth it because timeshare deals generally involve a lot of money.

Because of the complex nature of timeshare deals, having legal expenses insurance which covers expenses in Switzerland and abroad (if you buy into a timeshare outside the country) is recommended. You can compare Swiss legal protection insurance here.
