I will be leaving Switzerland for good and plan to cash out my 3a savings accounts (I have several). What can I expect to pay on average when I close each account?

Hi there,

Most Swiss banks do not charge fees when you close 3a savings accounts after reaching the legal age at which you are allowed to do so (5 years ahead of retirement age).

However, you may pay fees if you withdraw assets early - to purchase a home or when leaving Switzerland, for example. You may also pay closure and transactions fees if you choose to transfer your 3a savings to another bank. Notice periods may also apply.

Best regards from Moneyguru
