The term "qualifying period" refers to a period of time after you take out insurance during which you cannot make any claims. Many legal expenses insurance policies have qualifying periods of 3 months before you can file claims. Some apply qualifying periods to specific categories of legal expenses only. Still other policies do not have qualifying periods at all.
