I am looking for accurate predications of mortgage interest rates. Knowing what interest rates will look like over the coming years will make choosing the right mortgage a lot easier. For example, getting a forward mortgage could save a lot of money if rates go down in the future. Do you know any tried and proven sources for mortgage rate predictions?

Many home buyers and mortgagors have been surprised at the developments in the mortgage market. Anyone planning on mortgaging a home has an obvious interest in how mortgage interest rates develop in the future.
Unfortunately, nobody can predict for certain how mortgage rates will develop in the future. Reason: There are many different factors which either directly or indirectly affect mortgage rates, and some of these factors are completely unpredictable.
There are a few very general observations which can be made. For example, mortgage rates often follow savings interest rates. However, that is not always the case. Over the past year we have seen interest rates on savings and bonds fall steadily while mortgage rates climbed moderately.
A number of Swiss financial services providers do make mortgage rate predictions. These include UBS, Credit Suisse and Vermögenszentrum.
