We recently moved to Switzerland and were advised by friends to get personal liability insurance. I've been playing around with the premium calculator and it seems the premiums are much lower if you state that you are a homeowner. Why is that?

Hi there,

Swiss personal liability insurance covers liability for damages to rented properties in addition to other liability claims against the policyholder.

Because claims by landlords against renters for damages to their properties add a significant risk for insurance providers, the premiums for renters are adjusted to compensate for this added risk.

Best regards from Moneyguru
