Greenback

In forex trading, the term greenback is used to denote the U.S. dollar.

The term originates from the green print on the back side of the banknotes of a fiat currency first issued by the Unionist Government of the United States to finance the civil war.

The term greenback is also widely used in reference to the U.S. dollar outside of forex trading.
